Survivor & Speaker
As I shared in my bio page, I have been a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor since the age of 14 and cancer survivor at the age of 15. If you have any experience with TBI you know that no 2 TBI’s are the same. We each have our own unique stories and journey of Rehabilitation. It is no easy feat, no matter what your challenges. To say it’s been quite the Journey in these past 30+ years is an understatement. And there’s no “done” with TBI or “it’s over now” …. The Rehabilitation Journey after TBI is forever changing and you are forever evolving after it. It’s not an uphill battle, it’s a cycle that never ends and some days you’re moving forward, some days you’re stuck and some days you’re required to have to take a step or two backwards.
Both of my parents work in Rehabilitation professions, including my Dad being a Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant. I was blessed with support and guidance that helped me achieve the many goals they told me I most likely never would be able to do, such as graduate high school on time, attend a 4 year college, go onto receive my Masters degree, work, live independently and parent a child.
Today, my Dad and I are presenters/speakers at various events when asked to share our story. He also is a professor at Minnesota State University in Mankato and I am honored to speak to his Sensitivity To Disabilities class each Semester.
I also provide support and guidance to anyone who is interested in learning about the 7 Habits Covey Planner system, as well as Organizational Skills and Tools I use for living independently.
If you have interest in having us or myself speak to your group or event, contact us.
Or if you feel your family would benefit from private services from either of us, please reach out.
If you wish to read My Memoir, Crawl Walk Run,
that I wrote for my Masters program in 2008, you can purchase the E-Book here.
